What took you so long to get here?
Where have you been all my life?
I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I’ve been in show business!

Ever since I was a little kid and heard Pinocchio singing, “Hey, diddly-dee, an actor’s life for me,” that’s what I wanted. Well, not to be an actor.
I got tired of that during my freshman year in college.

So, what to do, what to do. . .

After many years as a Hollywood press agent, I became a writer…movies, stage plays, books.
Anything that was a challenge.  I love telling stories.

After all, with due respect to actors, directors and other artists, isn’t the only truly creative aspect of the performing arts the written word?
Everything else is “interpretation”.

On this site you will find links to my many stage plays that are available for licensing, listings of my books that are available for purchasing, some of my screenplays that are available for optioning, plus my blog that will keep you apprised of my various on-going activities and we can get to know each other, maybe too well.

If you’re into DVDs, take a look at my monthly newsletter, BEST BETS ON DVD.

Also, if you have a story that you want told, either in screenplay or book form, I am still a writer-for-hire.  Have Mac-Will Write.

So, please sign the guest book and share your thoughts and comments on my blog.  But, let’s play nice!

Don’t be such a stranger.  Keep coming back!

THE BLACK SLEEP

by Michael B. Druxman on 06/12/16

June 12, 2016

THE BLACK SLEEP (1956) featuring Lon Chaney Jr., Bela Lugosi and John Carradine is being shown on TCM tomorrow (13) at 4pm Eastern.

My stage play, THE LAST MONSTERS, is a dramatization of what took place during the filming of that horror cult classic.  So, watch the movie, then please order and read the play, which is available in both paperback and Kindle editions via Amazon.

If the link doesn't work, just copy it into your browser and you'll be taken right there.

Also, there is a new review of HERE COMES MR. JORDAN on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page, so please take a look.

You have a creative week.

Rainy Week

by Michael B. Druxman on 06/04/16

June 6, 2016

Today is the anniversary of D-Day, and if some of you younger readers don't know what D-Day is, hang your heads in shame, then Google the subject and find out. After that, watch THE LONGEST DAY; probably my favorite WW2 movie.

Last week was pretty uneventful.  We had MAJOR rain/thunder storms, which meant that I spent much of the week indoors.  I had been planning to journey to the local Mac store (several miles away) to see if the techs there could upgrade my laptop so that it would take a newer browser.  If not, I would have to but a new computer, which I don't really want to do, since except for having problems accessing a few websites recently, my current Mac fills all my needs.  I have an appointment to meet the guy later this week when, hopefully, all of the storms have passed.

I also have my annual physical this week, which is always fun.

Not much else happening.  Still waiting to hear on some of those writing projects I mention that past couple of weeks.

You have a creative week.

The Screening

by Michael B. Druxman on 05/28/16

May 30, 2016

The screening of THE MALTESE FALCON last Thursday went well.  Or, at least, as well as can be expected.

Most of the folks who come to these weekly afternoon screenings at this particular library branch, I'm told, are homeless, so I was not addressing your typical movie buff.  Indeed, as I sat in the back of the room watching the film, I noticed a lot of people dozing off.

On the plus side, there were some viewers who stayed after the picture and wanted to discuss it.

Next month, we will be screening WHITE HEAT with Jimmy Cagney.

A few things are in the works that I can't talk about yet, since they might not happen for awhile (if at all).  A couple of people are talking to me about writing plays for them, and two theaters have expressed an interest in staging some of my plays in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS collection.  Fingers crossed.

There are two new reviews on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page.  They are:  THE BRAVE ONE and MR. RIGHT, so please take a look.

You have a creative week,

Michael
