Stress Test
by Michael B. Druxman on 07/30/16August 1, 2016
This past Friday, my doctor had me do a stress test. I've been getting short of breath the past few months, and we're trying to see what the problem might be.
They put me on a treadmill, but I couldn't stay on it long enough for them to get a reading, so we switched over to a chemical stress test, which is not much fun.
I expect to hear from the doctor this week.
In the meantime, I finished the first draft of my HOLLYWOOD SNAPSHOTS book and am now waiting for some feedback from the publisher.
Not sure what I will write next.
There are several new reviews on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page. The films covered include CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR, MOTHER'S DAY, THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE (cable TV series) and PUERTO RICANS IN PARIS.

Almost Finished
by Michael B. Druxman on 07/16/16July 18, 2016
I'm back. I know it's been awhile, but there hasn't been much I've wanted to write about.
I'm close to finishing the initial draft of my book of celebrity interviews. I'm thinking of calling it HOLLYWOOD SNAPSHOTS. Since the bulk of the book consists of interviews I did back in the 1970s and 80s, most of my work on it has been organization, rather than writing. I shall keep you informed.
This past week, I created a book trailer for my friend, Marian Hailey-Moss. She has a new coloring book about Freddie the cow, who escaped from his journey to the slaughterhouse and wound up in an animal sanctuary where he lives happily ever after. True story.
There's a review for THE FAMILY FANG on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page. So, please take a look.

OKLAHOMA!
by Michael B. Druxman on 06/25/16June 25, 2016
This afternoon, wife Sandy and I are driving down to San Marcos (about halfway between Austin and San Antonio) to see a performance of OKLAHOMA!
OKLAHOMA! was the 2nd live professional stage play I ever saw and the first musical. I'm guessing that I was under 10 years old when the national company played Seattle and my parents took me to see it. I imagine there there were some future stars in that cast, but I, unfortunately, don't have the program any longer.
Incidentally, the first professional stage play I saw was HARVEY with Joe E. Brown. I was five, and I was somewhat disappointed because I never got to see the giant rabbit they kept talking about.
This coming Thursday, I will be at the Austin Library again, hosting another classic film: WHITE HEAT with Jimmy Cagney. Looking forward to it.
Back in the 1970s, I wrote a monthly column, "Yesterday at the Movies," in which I interviewed stars from Hollywood's Golden Age (i.e. Jack Oakie, Claire Trevor, Ann Miller, Paul Henreid, etc.). Currently, I'm in the process of putting those interviews, as well as quotes from my notes, into a book. I'm not quite sure what the format will be yet, but it should be interesting. I'll keep you informed.
You have a creative week.
