What took you so long to get here?
Where have you been all my life?
I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I’ve been in show business!

Ever since I was a little kid and heard Pinocchio singing, “Hey, diddly-dee, an actor’s life for me,” that’s what I wanted. Well, not to be an actor.
I got tired of that during my freshman year in college.

So, what to do, what to do. . .

After many years as a Hollywood press agent, I became a writer…movies, stage plays, books.
Anything that was a challenge.  I love telling stories.

After all, with due respect to actors, directors and other artists, isn’t the only truly creative aspect of the performing arts the written word?
Everything else is “interpretation”.

On this site you will find links to my many stage plays that are available for licensing, listings of my books that are available for purchasing, some of my screenplays that are available for optioning, plus my blog that will keep you apprised of my various on-going activities and we can get to know each other, maybe too well.

If you’re into DVDs, take a look at my monthly newsletter, BEST BETS ON DVD.

Also, if you have a story that you want told, either in screenplay or book form, I am still a writer-for-hire.  Have Mac-Will Write.

So, please sign the guest book and share your thoughts and comments on my blog.  But, let’s play nice!

Don’t be such a stranger.  Keep coming back!

In The Home Stretch

by Michael B. Druxman on 09/10/16

September 12, 2016

I haven't been posting for a couple of weeks, so I guess that some of you have wondered what became of me.

Nothing startling.  I just haven't had much to report.  I've been working on my new novella.  I'm in the home stretch right now; just have two or, possibly, three chapters to write and I'll be done with the first draft.

I haven't decided yet if this book is going to be a standalone, or if I'm going to pair it with another novella I started awhile back and have now, finally, figured out how I'm going to finish it.

We shall see.

I've posted some new reviews on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page.  They are CAT PEOPLE, HIGH STRUNG and a couple of Gene Wilder comedies, THE ADVENTURE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES' SMARTER BROTHER and HAUNTED HONEYMOON, so please take a look.

On Tuesday, I have an appointment with my eye doctor, which within the next 2-3 weeks will probably result in my having cataract surgery on both eyes...but not at the same time.  I must admit, it's bit scary.

You have a creative week.

New Computer

by Michael B. Druxman on 08/26/16

August 29, 2016

So, last Tuesday, my 7+ years old Mac started giving me problems, so I decided that it was time to get a new one.

The problem was that my old Mac has several programs that I use that have been discontinued, so I'm going to do everything I can to keep it going...even if I have to replace the hard drive.

The new computer is okay, but I really like the old one better because I'm used to it. At my age, I hate having to go through a learning curve.

I did my monthly classic film library screening this past Thursday.  We showed the group TWENTIETH CENTURY with John Barrymore and Carole Lombard.  In retrospect, it probably wasn't the best choice for that group.  They seem to prefer action films over screwball comedies.

I continue to work on my novel.

You have a creative week.

I'm Still Here!

by Michael B. Druxman on 08/20/16

August 22, 2016

Since I haven't posted a blog for awhile, I'll bet that some of you thought I was dead.

Sorry if you're disappointed, but I'm still here.

The bottom line on my tests was that my heart and lungs are okay.  I just need to exercise more to build up my wind power.  So, as soon as this crazy, unpredictable Austin weather stops, I will start doing some walking.

During the past couple of weeks, I signed a contract with BearManor Media to publish my book, HOLLYWOOD SNAPSHOTS, probably sometime next year. I've also gone back to work on a short novel I started some time ago: JACKIE GOES TO DIXIE.  I hope to finish it well before the end of the year.

This coming Thursday, I do my stint at the Austin Public Library.  This week we are screening TWENTIETH CENTURY with John Barrymore and Carole Lombard.

There are several new reviews on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page.  They are: THE WALKING DEAD, Season 6, two Orson Welles films (CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT and THE IMMORTAL STORY), THE AMERICAN SIDE and HIGH STRUNG.  So, please take a look.

You have a creative week.

Michael
