What took you so long to get here?
Where have you been all my life?
I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I’ve been in show business!

Ever since I was a little kid and heard Pinocchio singing, “Hey, diddly-dee, an actor’s life for me,” that’s what I wanted. Well, not to be an actor.
I got tired of that during my freshman year in college.

So, what to do, what to do. . .

After many years as a Hollywood press agent, I became a writer…movies, stage plays, books.
Anything that was a challenge.  I love telling stories.

After all, with due respect to actors, directors and other artists, isn’t the only truly creative aspect of the performing arts the written word?
Everything else is “interpretation”.

On this site you will find links to my many stage plays that are available for licensing, listings of my books that are available for purchasing, some of my screenplays that are available for optioning, plus my blog that will keep you apprised of my various on-going activities and we can get to know each other, maybe too well.

If you’re into DVDs, take a look at my monthly newsletter, BEST BETS ON DVD.

Also, if you have a story that you want told, either in screenplay or book form, I am still a writer-for-hire.  Have Mac-Will Write.

So, please sign the guest book and share your thoughts and comments on my blog.  But, let’s play nice!

Don’t be such a stranger.  Keep coming back!

Surgery Went Okay!

by Michael B. Druxman on 10/09/16

October 10, 2016

So, my surgery went okay.  It took about fifteen minutes, and it didn't hurt.

I am now seeing better out of my right eye than I had been before, though the sight in my left eye, which also has a cataract, is a bit sharper and brighter.  Hopefully, right eye will improve during the next few days.  Otherwise, I might reconsider having left eye done next month.

I am putting drops (3) in my eye three times a day and, for this first week, sleeping with a patch over my right eye.

Mostly during this past week, I've just read and watched TV.  I know what I'm going to write next, but I'm not motivated or in any rush to get into it yet.  After all, I already have 2 new books coming out next year.

The day before my surgery, I listened to the first chapter of the audio version of MISS DINAH SHORE.  I'm very please with what the reader is doing with it.

You have a creative week.

Surgery Thursday

by Michael B. Druxman on 10/01/16

October 3, 2016

On Thursday (6), I have cataract surgery on my right eye.

Everybody I know who has ever had this kind of surgery assures me that it's no big deal and that everything will be fine, but I'm still pretty anxious about it.

On the positive side of life, I signed a deal this past week for an actress to record an audio version of MISS DINAH SHORE.  It's a popular book, as proved by the nice royalty check I got a couple of weeks ago.  If all goes well, the download should be available before the end of this year.

Next year, I will have two (2) new books in print.  BearManor Media will be publishing my recently completed novel, JACKIE GOES TO DIXIE, as well as HOLLYWOOD SNAPSHOTS, my compilation of show biz articles and quotes from the Hollywood actors, directors, producers and writers that I interviewed back in the 1970s and 1980s.  More on both of these later.

You have a creative week, and please think positive thoughts for me on Thursday.

First Draft Is Finished

by Michael B. Druxman on 09/18/16

September 19, 2016

Last week, I completed the first draft of my new novella, JACKIE GOES TO DIXIE.  Wife Sandy has read it and, although she's made a few minor suggestions, she likes it.

I haven't looked at the manuscript again since I finished it, and I probably won't until sometime later this week.  I want to get some distance from it before I read and start working on it again.  In the meantime, I'm reading a pretty good thriller by Robert Crais.

Today, I'm taking my Honda in for what will, hopefully, be a minor, no-cost repair to the seat belt.  The problem is that this early morning visit is only going to be an assessment.  I'll have to bring it back when they get the part.

I'm also set for cataract surgery on my right eye the first week of next month, then like surgery on my left eye the following month.  Everybody assures me that it's really a no problem procedure, but the prospect of somebody cutting into my eyes is scary.

Also this past week, I finally saw STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, which is currently airing on Starz.  It was fun; certainly repetitive of the original trilogy, but it was nice re-visiting those characters again.

You have a creative week.
