What took you so long to get here?
Where have you been all my life?
I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I’ve been in show business!

Ever since I was a little kid and heard Pinocchio singing, “Hey, diddly-dee, an actor’s life for me,” that’s what I wanted. Well, not to be an actor.
I got tired of that during my freshman year in college.

So, what to do, what to do. . .

After many years as a Hollywood press agent, I became a writer…movies, stage plays, books.
Anything that was a challenge.  I love telling stories.

After all, with due respect to actors, directors and other artists, isn’t the only truly creative aspect of the performing arts the written word?
Everything else is “interpretation”.

On this site you will find links to my many stage plays that are available for licensing, listings of my books that are available for purchasing, some of my screenplays that are available for optioning, plus my blog that will keep you apprised of my various on-going activities and we can get to know each other, maybe too well.

If you’re into DVDs, take a look at my monthly newsletter, BEST BETS ON DVD.

Also, if you have a story that you want told, either in screenplay or book form, I am still a writer-for-hire.  Have Mac-Will Write.

So, please sign the guest book and share your thoughts and comments on my blog.  But, let’s play nice!

Don’t be such a stranger.  Keep coming back!

Halfway There!

by Michael B. Druxman on 02/06/16

February 8, 2016

I've started writing the second act of my new play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS series.  It has three (3) on-stage characters, plus an off-stage voice. This is the first entry in this series that centers around people that I actually knew.

I'm planning to be in Los Angeles for a few days in mid-April, and will be doing a book signing for MURDER IN BABYLON while I am there.  Stay tuned for further details.

There's a new review of The Criterion Collection edition of THE GRADUATE posted on the Best Bets on DVD site, accessible via the link in the Introduction section of this page.  So, take a look.

You have a creative week.

I totally forgot about this

by Michael B. Druxman on 01/30/16

February 1, 2016

Two or three years ago, I did an on-camera interview on self-publishing at a hotel in downtown Austin.  I'd totally forgotten I'd done it, but the other day I was sent a clip from that interview, which is now on YouTube.

If the link doesn't work, copy the address into your browser and you should be taken right there.

I have to stop saying "You know" in these interviews.

You have a creative week.

Things I'm Doing

by Michael B. Druxman on 01/23/16

January 25, 2016

Health permitting, I'm planning to go to Los Angeles for a few days in April where, among other things, I will do a book signing for MURDER IN BABYLON.  More on this when the date gets closer.

This past week, I was approached by a theatre company in upstate New York that is interested in producing LOMBARD in August.  Nothing definite yet, but (fingers crossed), it looks like it might very well happen.

Beyond that, aside from my continuing research for a new play, nothing much is new.  I have posted reviews of both TWO FOR THE SEESAW (1962) and the final season of DA VINCI'S DEMONS on the Best Bets on DVD site and, within the next few days, I will also post reviews of BURNT and THE CAPTIVE CITY.  You can access these reviews by clicking on the link in the Introduction section of this page.

Is it snowing where you are?  Here, in Austin, it's just cold.

Have a creative week,

Michael
